Baseball Concludes Fall Slate With Doubleheader at LSU

TROY, Ala. — Troy baseball wraps up its four-game fall ball exhibition slate with a trip to Baton Rouge, La., to take on the LSU Tigers in an 18-inning doubleheader on Sunday. First pitch for the opening game is slated for 1:30 p.m.

The Trojans prepare for their third SEC matchup of the fall after previously taking on Tennessee in Nashville last month and battling Florida in Pensacola two weeks ago

. Troy also hosted Samford in a 16-inning exhibition doubleheader at Riddle-Pace Field earlier in October.

Several newcomers have made strong first impressions this fall

. Right-hander Preston Watkins, a fifth-year transfer from Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, has flashed on the rubber, racking up nine strikeouts over five innings across two starts

. On offense, Cooper Williams and Layne Akers have provided key sparks

. Akers, an outfielder transfer from Middle Tennessee State, has launched two home runs with four RBIs

. Williams, a Kennesaw State transfer who has taken over at shortstop this fall, has collected six hits including a homer

.

Troy, which finished 23rd nationally with 97 home runs in 2026, has picked up right where it left off by launching 11 long balls against its first three fall opponents

. Returners Jimmy Janicki and Ty McGraw combined for three of those homers

. Janicki crushed a solo shot to deep right field in the top of the ninth before flashing his speed with an inside-the-park home run the following inning

. McGraw added another solo blast in the ninth

. Caden Reeves (2), Kam Jenkins (1), Hudson Reed (1), and Adam Leininger (1) have also cleared the fence for the Trojans this fall.

On the mound, Troy's pitching staff has racked up 43 strikeouts against just nine walks across 40 innings of fall action

. 16 different arms have made appearances out of the bullpen and rotation for the Trojans.

There will be no live stream or video coverage for Saturday's exhibition contest. Fans can stay up to date on all the action by following Troy Baseball on X and Instagram for live in-game updates and coverage.
