Men’s Golf Eighth Following Day Two in Destin

DESTIN, Fla. – Pablo Gracia fired a 3-under 69 and Thomas Crane carded a 70 in Tuesday's second round of the Destin Collegiate at The Raven Golf Course. Troy shot 4-under as a team, two shots better than its opening tally, but dropped two spots into eighth place.
Gracia, who opened on No. 7, quickly raced out to 2-under with birdies on the eighth and ninth and then added two more on the 17th and 18th. He played a clean round all the way to his final hole, where he bogeyed the par-3 sixth. Gracia climbed 14 spots into a tie for 22nd place following 36 holes.
Troy's clubhouse leader remained Lee Poppell after the junior shot even for the day to close the round tied for 15th place. Poppell had three birdies, including one on his final hole of the day, to go along with three bogeys.
The Trojans fell two spots, despite their strong team score, after Florida A&M carded an 11-under and Austin Peay shot 9-under to leapfrog Troy. West Florida shot into the lead, also carding an 11-under, to grab a 2-shot advantage over Middle Tennessee, while ULM is three shots back in third.
Thomas Crane bagged his second under-par round of the season as he carded four birdies to finish 1-under and tied for 40th place.
Grant Yerger followed his under-par round yesterday by shooting 1-over on Tuesday to move into a tie for 28thplace, while Landon Noble had a roller coaster day with four birdies and four bogeys as he shot even to close out tied for 44th. Playing as an individual, Pierce Becker added a pair of birdies in a round of 71 to sit tied for 57th place.
Teams wrap up play on Wednesday morning with the final 18 holes.
