Men’s Golf Travels to Destin Collegiate

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's golf team returns to action this week with a three-day trip to Destin, Fla., for the Destin Collegiate, hosted by Texas State at the Raven Golf Course at the Sandestin Resort.

The Raven hosted the Sun Belt Championship for many years, including during Troy's three-year run to NCAA Regionals from 2015-17.

Troy is coming off a tie for ninth in the season opener at the Argent Financial Classic, despite the Trojans shooting 9-under par as a team, with Pablo Gracia, Lee Poppell and Thomas Crane all finishing in the red individually.

Gracia tied for ninth, shooting 7-under for the week, including two rounds of 69, while Poppell tied for 22^nd and Crane tied for 33^rd. Poppell shot under-par in all three of his rounds, while Crane opened his collegiate career with a 2-under 70.

As a team, Troy shot under-par in all three rounds, with a pair of 4-unders around a second round 287.

Grant Yerger and Landon Noble both closed strong in the opener, with Yerger shooting 3-over on his final 36 holes, while Noble carded a 1-under 71 in the third round, as they round out the lineup. Redshirt freshman Pierce Becker will make his collegiate debut, playing as an individual.

Teams are set to play 18 holes each day in foursomes; Troy is set to play Monday's opener along with Middle Tennessee, ULM and Lamar.
