Troy Women Middle of the Pack at The “Mo” Morial

BRYAN, Texas – Laura Fangmeyer carded six birdies to lead the Troy women's golf team on the opening day of The "Mo" Morial, hosted by Texas A&M at The Traditions Club. Fangmeyer is tied for 12th overall, and Troy is in the middle of the pack, in eighth place following the opening 36 holes.
Fangmeyer finished the day third in the field, averaging 4.75 strokes on the par 5 offerings, good for a 2-under, while her six birdies were tied for the second most in the field. As a team, Troy's 17 birdies tied for the fifth most on the day. She sits 11-over par on a day where the average card was an 81.12 (+9.12).
No. 20 Texas A&M was 23-over on the day and holds the top spot on the team leaderboard, followed by Abilene Christian, Northern Colorado, Texas State, Oral Roberts and No. 32 Baylor. Troy is 15 shots back of the pair, tied for fifth.
Victoria Stutts birdied the par-5 15th in both her rounds and one on the 18th in the second round to finish the day 14-over and tied for 28th place, while Alyssa Mercado is tied for 38th place at 16-over par; she had four birdies on the day.
Katelynn Altese added three birdies, two in the first round, to finish tied for 46th on Monday, while Manya Saini is tied for 51st position thanks to a birdie on the par-3 second in the opening round.
Teams close play with 18 holes on Tuesday.
