Women’s Basketball Travels to South Alabama for Road Finale

MOBILE, Ala. – The final road game of the 2024-25 schedule for Troy women's basketball pits it against South Alabama on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Mitchell Center.
Three games remain in the Sun Belt Conference schedule for the Trojans (17-11, 11-4 SBC), who can punch their ticket into the quarterfinals with a win over the Jaguars (6-20, 2-13 SBC) and a loss by App State.

Three with Three
Despite the loss to ULM, 84-73, Troy remains poised for a top-4 seed in the postseason tournament after winning seven of its last 10 league meetings – all three losses came on the road. In the Fant-Ewing Coliseum, Zay Dyer willed her way into a 16-point, 18-rebound performance to secure her league-leading 13th double-double.
Dyer ranks 14th in the nation with her 13 double-doubles while also seated 14th nationally and first in the league with 10.6 rebounds per game. Her 10.6 rebounds in 2024-25 is the fifth-most in a Troy single season, accumulating 297 total – Dyer is 19 rebounds from passing Ja'Mia Hollings (315) for the fifth-most total rebounds in a D-I season for Troy. The junior forward also ranks in the top 10 for the SBC in field goal percentage (sixth – 43.2), field goals made (second – 153) and blocks per game (ninth – 0.9).
When Brianna Jackson seizes double-digit rebounds, the senior inevitably secures a double-double. Thursday night was no different when 'Moe' battled through a lower-body injury to secure her sixth double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jackson's been an offensive force over the last nine games, with eight in double-figures, including six straight from Jan. 25 – Feb. 5.
Saturday afternoon marks the second time the in-state rivals face off in 2024-25, with Troy dominating South Alabama 99-60 on Jan. 16. In the victory, the Trojans hit 13 triples in 26 attempts, with eight coming from 19-point performances by Emani Jenkins (4) and Ashley Baez (4). The matchup saw all 11 Trojans to check in score at least two points as Briana Peguero (15) and Zay Dyer ended with 10-plus points.

The Jaguars shot above 45 percent from the field in both games and dished out 15 assists. Rachel Leggett was the key to the win over the Golden Eagles with 19 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
