Women’s Basketball Opens Final Road Trip at ULM

TROY, Ala. – Winners of the last 14 meetings against ULM, the Troy women's basketball program opens its final road trip in the Fant-Ewing Coliseum on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 6:30 p.m.
The Trojans (17-10, 11-3 SBC) are seated third in the Sun Belt standings, two games behind Arkansas State for a bye into the semifinal round. A victory and loss by Coastal Carolina and App State secures a bye into the quarterfinals for the tournament. Meanwhile, the Warhawks (9-16, 5-9 SBC) are losers in their last five games, positioned in ninth for the league.

Four Games Remain
After sweeping the previous week in Trojan Arena with wins over ULM, 84-71, and Southern Miss, 86-59, the Trojans are primed for an automatic bid into the quarterfinals. Their most recent victory on senior day saw the Trojans have their second-best shooting performance of 2024-25 on 53.2 percent from the floor. Brianna Jackson led the way in the scoring column with 17 points – she's scored double-figures in seven of her last eight games.
On the road, the Trojans look to end the regular season at .500, sitting 6-8, 4-3 SBC. Troy's rebound game hasn't fallen off on the road as it dominated the opposition 49.1-39.6 for a plus 9.5 rebound margin. Zay Dyer is the key to road victories as she averages a double-double in enemy territory with a team-high 11.6 points and 10.1 rebounds. Shaulana Wagner has also been effective with a 10.1-point, 6.3-rebound and 4.9-assist stat line.
Feb. 12 marked the first meeting between Troy and ULM in Trojan Arena, and the home team dominated off the first individual 100 percent shooting performance (min. five shots) since 2016 with Khila Morris. The junior guard erupted for a career-high 16 points on 5-of-5 shooting off the bench. Jackson tied Morris in scoring while rejecting three shots. The Trojans trailed entering the second half but shot 47.1 percent in the fourth quarter and kept the Warhawks to 22.2 percent for the victory.
With four games remaining in the regular season, Troy's stars have positioned themselves to rise in the single-season records. Emani Jenkins sits nine triples from entering the top 10 for 3-pointers made in a single season, averaging 1.7 per game with multiple triples in 12 of her last 15 games. Briana Peguero remains the all-time leader in free throw percentage, going 47-of-52 from the line for 90.4 percent. The SBC leader in rebounding (10.3) also moved into the sixth spot for D-I rebounds at 279 against Southern Miss, 36 rebounds from Ja'Mia Hollings (315) in fifth.
Looking for a Win
The Warhawks are looking for their first victory since Jan. 30 over South Alabama after dropping the last five games to Texas State, App State, South Alabama, Troy and Louisiana. It's been a tale of two stories in the five losses, as three have come within five points, while the other two have been by double-digits. Their last loss to Louisiana, 80-60, saw ULM allow the opposition to shoot 57.9 percent from the field, including 81.3 percent in the second quarter, to be outscored 26-13.
Despite dropping the last five games, ULM remains the team to watch with the foul game, ranking first in the league in fouls per game at 15.8. The charity stripe and turnovers are also the Warhawks' strengths, as they shoot 73.1 percent at the line and give up 14 turnovers to lead the conference. The last meeting with Troy saw Meloney Thames produce 26 points on five triples, while Jakayla Johnson followed with 17 points, four assists and a team-high three steals.
