Troy Softball Hosts Power Four Foe; First Pitch Moved to 4 p.m.

Troy, Ala. – Troy looks to build on a strong start to the season on Wednesday night when Georgia Tech rolls into town. After losing a 7-5 fall ball game against the Yellow Jackets (7-3), the Trojans will try to get revenge on the Power Four team. First pitch has been moved to 4 p.m.
"This is a game that we have had circled on our spring calendar since we played them this fall," said head coach Eric Newell. "The coaches and players are excited to play this game and look forward to competing against a very strong ACC team."
Georgia Tech will face the tall task of slowing down Troy's potent offense, which was highlighted by Annie Orman's strong weekend. At the Cardinal Clash, Orman went 7-for-11 with nine RBIs and four extra-base hits. Orman did it all while hitting towards the bottom of the lineup.

The Trojans went 4-1 over the weekend at the Cardinal Clash, with their lone loss coming in heartbreaking fashion against Western Kentucky. Troy was clicking in every aspect of the game: 44 combined runs powered the offense while Alyssa Faircloth and Savannah Money each turned in career-best starts from the circle.
Cassidy Boltz, Annie Orman and Kayden Dunn all had spectacular weekends at the plate. Boltz started off the weekend with a 3-for-3 game against Southeast Missouri and finished it with 10 total hits. Her .517 batting average and 1.287 OPS lead the team.
Following a slow first weekend, Orman exploded for Troy with nine RBIs. She now leads the team in total RBIs (11), and doubles (4).
Dunn continued her hot start to the season with three multi-hit games over the weekend. The first baseman is tied with Boltz for five multi-hit games this year, which leads the team. Dunn has also taken five walks to bring her season on-base percentage up to .515.
To open the weekend, the Trojans secured a 4-2 victory over Southeast Missouri. Although the Redhawks were an NCAA Regional team in 2024, Faircloth's eight strikeouts over four innings baffled the SEMO lineup.
In Friday's 11-6 win over Eastern Illinois, Orman and Sarah Beth Brake both drove in four runs. Brake's fifth-inning home run gave Troy the cushion it needed to finish out the win, as Esmee Ames earned her first save in a Troy uniform.
Although the Trojans held a one-run lead heading into the seventh inning against Western Kentucky, the Hilltoppers came up with a clutch two-out, two RBI single to take a late lead in the 6-5 game. Taylor McKinney finished the game with two RBIs, but Troy couldn't muster up a big hit to win the game.
Saturday saw the Trojans win two big games, run-ruling Eastern Illinois 10-2 and Alabama State 14-0. Savannah Money pitched brilliantly in the game against the Panthers, setting a new career-high in strikeouts and keeping the game close until Troy broke it open with a seven-run fifth inning.
Against the Hornets, Troy dropped 12 runs in the first inning alone -- the inning is the highest-scoring since at least 2004. The Trojans cruised the rest of the way, bringing their all-time record against Alabama State to a perfect 28-0.
