Women's Golf Finishes 12th at Pirate Collegiate Classic

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Troy women's golf team finished in 12th place at the Pirate Collegiate Classic as play wrapped Tuesday afternoon at the Greenville Country Club. Victoria Stutts fired a final round 72 to lead the Trojans for a second straight round.
Stutts carded three birdies on the day, with a pair coming on two of the course's three par-3 holes and the other on the 425-yard, par-5 ninth. She finished the week tied for 30th place at 6-over after shooting Troy's only under-par round of the tournament, with a 71 in the second round.
Troy shot 14-over as a team in all three rounds and finished seventh overall with a combined 41 birdies and sixth on the par-5s at 17-under. Individually, freshman Constanza Quiroga tied for fifth on the par-5s at 7-under, while Manya Saini was a shot back in a tie for ninth at 6-under.
East Carolina won the team title by five shots over High Point, while Louisville and James Madison rounded out the top four.
Saini and Katelyn Altese tied for 53rd place at 12-over par after shooting six-over and five-over, respectively, on Tuesday. Saini had a birdie on each side of the course, while Altese made the turn at 4-over but rebounded with a pair of birdies on the back.
Quiroga shot 76 on the day with a team-best four birdies (two on par fives) to finish in 61st place and Laura Fangmeyer had her best round of the week, shooting a 77 to finish tied for 76th place.
Troy travels to Jonesboro, Ark., for the Lady Red Wolves Classic at the Sage Meadows Country Club on Oct. 13-14.
