Troy Takes Seven Game Win Streak into Cajundome

LAFAYETTE, La. – Troy takes its seven-game winning streak into the Cajundome for round two with Louisiana on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m.
The seven-game win streak puts the Trojans (13-7, 7-1 SBC) in a two-way tie with Arkansas State in the SBC, while the Ragin Cajuns' four-game losing streak has dropped them into a two-way tie with Coastal Carolina for sixth.

Open the Floodgates
Metaphorical floodgates were opened at Texas State on Thursday, 105-58, as Troy hit 14 triples to claim its first victory when scoring 100-plus points on the road since a 100-89 win over Arkansas State on Feb. 9, 2019. The 47-point victory marked the largest margin of victory by the Trojans for a league road game in program history as they claimed a ninth straight win over the Bobcats.
Emani Jenkins couldn't miss from behind the arc with a 6-of-8 showing to tie for the second-most triples by a D-I Trojan for a single game. She ended with her first career game with 20-plus points on a career-high of 22. She paired with Briana Peguero (4) and Ashley Baez (3) in the 3-point play. The 14th and final triple for Troy came from Leilani Guion, who's made a triple in 10 of her last 13 games (17 total). Overall, the Trojans set season-highs in field goal percentage (37-of-68 – 54.4 percent) and from deep (14-of-28 – 50 percent).
Over the last seven games, Troy's outscored the opposition 674-547 for an average margin of victory of plus-15.9. The Trojans have also converted 9.4 triples per game on 37.1 percent shooting, with 2.5 from Jenkins, 2.4 from Peguero and two from Baez. The duo of Peguero and Baez average double-digits with 13.3 and 12.5, respectively, with the two-time SBC Player of the Week member Zay Dyer leading the charge with 13.4 – No. 5 also leads the team with 11.6 rebounds.
In the first round against Louisiana, Troy claimed revenge for its early SBC Tournament exit with an 81-73 victory last Saturday. The Trojans claimed the victory in the second and third quarters as they overcame an eight-point gap from the first to enter the half with a 36-35 lead. Quarter No. 3 saw Troy push its lead to as much as 16 on 50 percent shooting. Defensively, Troy held Louisiana to 17.6 percent from the field for a 21-9 margin.
Round Two
Louisiana looks to end a four-game losing streak on Saturday that includes an 81-73 loss last Saturday in Trojan Arena. In the four-game skid, Louisiana has a margin of victory of minus-3.5, shooting 39.9 percent from the field, 31 percent from deep and 78.3 percent at the line. They've lost the rebound battle 155-138 while averaging 20.5 turnovers per game.
Erica Lafayette has thrived despite the losses with a team-high 16.5 points on 46.2 percent shooting. She also ranks second for the Ragin' Cajuns in rebounding with 4.8. In league play, Lafayette has lit up the scoreboard on 44 percent shooting from the field, 45.2 percent from deep and 93.1 percent at the line for 17.8 points – she's the lone Ragin' Cajun with double-figures in scoring.
