Track and Field Concludes Competition at Sun Belt Championships

MONROE, La. – Troy wrapped up the three-day Sun Belt Track and Field Outdoor Championships at the Groseclose Track at Brown Stadium on Saturday, with the men's team finishing ninth and the women's side finishing 13th.
The Trojans recorded one podium on Saturday to bring its total over the week to four. Javon Osbourne finished third in the men's discus with a throw of 57.32m. Also finishing in the top 10 for Troy was Anthony Symile in seventh with a distance of 53.53m.
Alejandra Gutierrez Fuente had a very strong performance in the women's triple jump, as she finished sixth with a personal best mark of 12.50m. That distance is third in program history and the farthest mark since 2009 for Troy.
Other top-10 finishes in field events on Saturday included Brooks Burns with a ninth-place result in the women's discus with a throw of 43.96m, Jack Anderson with a 10th-place finish in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.97m and Haruki Sakai with a 10th-pace finish in the men's triple jump with a mark of 13.98m.
In track events, Kasia Cooper placed seventh in the women's 400m, Jasai Taylor finished eighth in the men's 400m hurdles and Cadi Rowe was 10th in the women's 5,000m.
In the men's 4x100m relay, Troy finished fourth with a season-best time of 40.15.

The NCAA East First Round is set to begin on Wednesday, May 22, in Lexington, Ky. For athletes to qualify for the first round, they must be ranked 48th or better in the East Region in their respective events.
