Stewart picked up his fourth first-place finish of the outdoor season at the SBC Championships with a personal best throw of 73.75m, which has him ranked eighth in the NCAA East region, 20th nationally, and first in the Sun Belt. It's the second-farthest throw in program history and his second 70-plus meter throw this season after also achieving that mark at the Doc Anderson Invitational (70.08m).
Ranked 20th in the discus and 45th in the shot put, Osbourne continues to be one of the best throwers in the NCAA East Region. Both of his qualifying marks were set at home in Troy's Doc Anderson Invitational in the middle of April, where he came in second in the discus with a mark of 57.57m and won the shot put with a distance of 18.01m.
Bedward, who will be joining Osbourne in the shot put event, set his qualifying mark of 17.80m at the Doc Anderson Invitational, which is a personal best for the sophomore who is competing in the NCAA East First Round for the first time in his career.
On the women's side, Ezukuse will be competing in the shot put after putting together a strong season in the event. Her qualifying mark of 15.92m – set at the Sun Belt Championships and was good for third place – is ranked 34th in the region and fifth in the conference.
Edward qualified with a strong throw of 15.31m, set at the Doc Anderson Invitational, and is her personal best. She joins Bedward as a first-time NCAA qualifier.
The top 12 placements in each individual event at each of the First Round Regionals will qualify for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., from June 5-8.
