SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Troy women's tennis team won its fourth consecutive dual after taking down Texas State 4-3 on Friday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

Troy (11-6, 5-2 SBC) has been on a tear lately and has skyrocketed up the conference standings. For the fourth straight match, the Trojans also won the doubles point to move to 8-0 this season when jumping ahead 1-0 over their opponent. On Friday, it was low-stress as Leena Metwally and Hagar Ramadan-Amin won 6-3 on court three, and Kristina Kukaras and Emilia Namyslo won 6-4 on court two to clinch the point.

Metwally and Ramadan-Amin are 4-0 in double since conference play started.

In singles, Texas State tied things up with a 6-0, 6-0 win on court one. Metwally responded for Troy with a 6-2, 6-1 win on court five to make the lead 2-1, and Gabrielle Leslie followed Metwally with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court six to make it 3-1. Leslie improved to 14-1 this spring in singles, and Metwally moved to 12-3.

The Bobcats made it interesting after picking up a win on court four and court three to make it a 3-3 tie.

It all came down to court two, and Ramadan-Amin shut the door on any comeback attempt by clinching the Troy victory with a 7-5, 7-5 win. Ramadan-Amin was also responsible for the match-clinching point last week against Georgia State. The win moves Troy to 4-1 all-time against the Bobcats.

Troy is 55-41 in singles this season and 21-23 in doubles. The Trojans are now in the midst of their second four-match winning streak this season and look to push it to five on Sunday as they face off against Louisiana on the road.
