Troy Welcomes In-State Rival For Final Home Series of 2024 Slate

Troy, Ala. – The Troy softball team is back at the Troy Softball Complex for the last time in the 2024 regular season. The Trojans (31-17, 11-7 SBC) will compete against rivals South Alabama (27-15-1, 12-6 SBC) in a must-win series.
Troy is currently sitting in fourth place in the conference standings, one game behind South Alabama and two behind the second place Texas State Bobcats. The Trojans enter this series as winners of four of their last six games.
D'Aun Riggs is coming off a weekend where her bat was scorching hot. The senior outfielder had a .363 batting average with three RBIs, a double and a triple to lead the Trojans in a series win against Georgia Southern.
Libby Baker continues to headline the circle for Troy. The senior ace is 13-9 on the season with a 3.66 ERA. Baker has thrown a season-high 128 innings while limiting opposing batters to a .250 batting average and recording 52 strikeouts.
The Jaguars head into this matchup on a five-game winning streak, including a 2-0 upset win over No. 17 Mississippi State.
Gabby Stagner headlines South Alabama's offense. The junior infielder bolsters a .315 batting average and leads the team with 13 doubles, 11 home runs, three triples and 36 RBIs on the season.
One of the biggest reasons behind the Jaguars' success this season is Olivia Lackie. The senior pitcher from Walker, Louisiana bolsters a dominant 1.33 ERA through 32 appearances this season. Lackie has a 19-6 record after 174.1 innings of work where she has punched out 178 batters while limiting them to a .170 batting average.
