Men’s Golf Set for Final SBC Tune-Up

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's golf team heads to West Point, Miss., for the Mossy Oak Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 7,212-yard Mossy Oak Golf Club. The event will be the Trojans' last opportunity to hit the links before the Sun Belt Conference Championship next week.

Troy is coming off an appearance in the Augusta/Haskins Award Invitational this past weekend; its first event in almost a month. Brantley Scott led the Trojans, shooting 2-over par, while Jake Springer was a shot back. Scott has played nine of his last 13 rounds within three shots of par, including five rounds under-par as he's lowered his stroke average to 73.89 for the year, thanks to a 73.17 mark this spring.

Springer has been Troy's most consistent player all year, as 92.6 percent of his individual rounds have counted towards the team card and his seven rounds under-par are tied with Pablo Gracia for second on the team. Gracia returns to the lineup after sitting out last week's event; he is second to Springer (0.63) with a 1.05 score vs. par and leads Troy with eight rounds in the red.

Head coach Clay Bounds will also call upon Nick Fowlkes and Will Simpson this week. Fowlkes shot 7-under at the GMC Classic in the fall and has played most of his rounds within a few shots of par, while Simpson will get his second action of the spring after shooting 1-over at The Border Olympics.
