DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Brantley Scott fired a second round 69 to lead Troy men's golf on the opening day of the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate Monday at LPGA International Arthur Hills Course. Scott and Jake Springer are tied for ninth individually, and Troy is fourth as a team, just six shots off the lead.

Scott bounced back from a 6-over in the opening round to card seven birdies in the afternoon session, which also featured a double-bogey and two bogeys. It was Scott's third round in the 60s this season and his fifth round under par.

Springer had a more balanced day, shooting 1-over in the morning round and 2-over in the afternoon. He carded a pair of birdies in round two, both on the front, after a flurry of birdies in the morning, with three on the front and one on the back.

Troy shot 13-over over the two rounds and finds itself six shots behind host-Stetson for first place in the team standings. The Hatters have a four-shot lead over Jacksonville State, while Longwood sits one shot ahead of Troy.

Nick Fowlkes is just a shot behind Springer and Scott in a tie for 12^th after shooting 73 and 75 on the day. He closed out play with three birdies in the second round after a pair in the morning. Pablo Gracia shot matching 75s with three birdies across his 36 holes to sit in a tie for 20^th place, while Lee Poppell is tied for 63^rd place at 15-over par.
