TROY, Ala. – No. 73 Troy men's tennis wraps up a three-game homestand with a rivalry matchup against South Alabama on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Lunsford Tennis Complex; admission is free.
The Trojans (16-4, 2-2 SBC) are 10-1 at home this season after splitting a pair of contested conference matches last week, with a 4-3 loss to No. 74 Louisiana and a 4-1 over Southern Miss after the Golden Eagles knocked off South Alabama (7-8, 2-2) the day before. To cap off a crazy weekend of league play, the Jaguars defeated Louisiana, 4-1, on Sunday.
Troy has won the doubles point in eight of the last nine matches behind the strength of Mario Martinez Serrano and Luciano Alcocer's 10-0 record as a pair on court three, while Yeray Andres Pastor and Carles Anton are 7-1 as a duo on court two.
Troy has dominated this season in singles, with a .725 winning percentage as a team, led by Martinez's 19-1 record, Pastor's 15-3 mark and Noah Marten's 15-4 record. Additionally, Alcocer is 8-3 since moving into the lineup but is looking to snap a mini two-match losing streak.
The Trojans are looking to break an eight-match losing streak to its in-state rival, but Troy has narrowed the gap in recent years. After South Alabama had won four matches by a combined 16-1 score, the last four were decided by a 16-7 margin.
Troy was originally scheduled to travel to Mississippi State on Sunday, however, that match has been canceled.
