No. 62 Troy Shutouts Out Alabama A&M to Run Win Streak to Four

TROY, Ala. – The No. 62 Troy men's tennis team won its fourth straight match, shutting out Alabama A&M, 7-0, on Saturday at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. The victory was Troy's sixth shutout of the season.
Troy (12-2), who moved into the national rankings earlier this week, cruised to the early 1-0 lead, winning the doubles point by taking matches on courts one and three. It was the fourth match since head coach Rolando Vargas switched up his doubles teams; Troy is 10-0 across the doubles courts with the new matchups.
Mario Martinez Serrano remained unbeaten on the year (14-0), winning 6-1, 6-1 on court one, while Noah Martens moved up to court two for the second time this year, where he pulled out a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
A big part of Troy's current winning streak, Benjamin Ambrosio picked up his first win of the year on court three with his fourth straight win overall (previous three came on court four). Nicolas Simkin returned to the lineup for the first time in four matches and picked up a 6-4, 7-5 win on court four.
Yeray Andres Pastor improved to 10-2 this spring with a 7-5, 6-1 win on court five, while freshman Luciano Alcocer has supplanted himself as a fixture on court six, winning 6-1, 6-3 for his fourth straight win as he moved to 6-1 on the spring.
Troy travels to Clarksville, Tenn., for a neutral site matchup with Youngstown State on Thursday before hosting Tennessee State on Monday, March 11.
