TROY, Ala. – Winners of three straight and fresh off a national ranking, the No. 62 Troy men's tennis team hosts Alabama A&M on Saturday at the Lunsford Tennis Complex; first serve is scheduled for noon and admission is free.
Troy (11-2) swept a mid-week doubleheader as the Trojans defeated Point and William Carey after defeating No. 53 South Florida last weekend in Tampa, Fla.
The Trojans have proved to be one of the best singles teams in the country, with a .778 winning percentage across the board this spring, paced by Mario Martinez Serrano on court one. The Troy sophomore is 13-0 this spring and 20-3, dating back to tournament play in the fall.
Court five has been Troy's next most successful spot in the lineup, with Yeray Andres Pastor (8-2) and Vicente Arbelaez (1-0) combining for victories in 9-of-11 matches, while courts four and six have posted winning percentages of .750.
Luciano Alcocer and Benjamin Abrosio enter the weekend having won three straight matches, while Noah Martens is 10-2 on the year and Carles Anton checks in with an 8-4 mark.
On the doubles courts, head coach Rolando Vargas made a tweak to his pairings prior to the victory over South Florida, and the new tandems are 8-1 since the switch, including 6-0 and 6-1 wins against the Bulls.
Alabama A&M (1-4) has played a challenging schedule on the young season with matches against Vanderbilt, Samford, Lipcomb and Austin Peay around a victory over Southern.
