Women’s Tennis Sweeps Alabama A&M, 7-0

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team continues its strong start to the spring season as it picked up a 7-0 sweep over Alabama A&M at the Lunsford Tennis Complex on Thursday afternoon.
Troy (3-0) didn't drop a single set in the match as all six singles courts were won in straight sets and the Trojans won both of the completed doubles matches.
Kristina Kukaras and Maria Guirguis got things going with a 6-3 win in the No. 1 doubles spot. Leena Metwally and Valeriia Avdeeva clinched the doubles point in the No. 2 spot with a 6-2 win. The third double match was abandoned with Alabama A&M's Hannah Nagpall and Sofia Sotelo Raya leading Troy's Hagar Ramadan-Amin and Olivia Elliott, 4-3.
In singles, the Trojans kept it rolling with Guiguis winning 6-1, 6-0 on Court 1. Avdeeva made it 3-0 Trojans with a 6-2, 6-2 win on Court 4. Ramadan-Amin clinched the team victory with a 6-1, 6-2 win on Court 2.
The teams agreed to play out the remaining matches. Metwally won 6-3, 6-2 on Court 6. Kukaras grabbed a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the top singles spot. Gabrielle Leslie closed out the scoring with a 6-3, 6-4 win on Court 5.
Overall, it was the Trojans' best match of the young season so far. Metwally and Leslie continued to lead the Trojans when it comes to singles play, as both are undefeated (3-0) this season
