Women’s Tennis Dominates Alcorn State, Sweeps Homestand

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team dominated Alcorn State on Friday afternoon at the Lunsford Tennis Complex, as it cruised to a 7-0 win.

It's the second consecutive 7-0 win for Troy who beat Alabama A&M yesterday. In both matches, Troy did not drop a single set.

Leena Metwally and Valeriia Avdeeva got Troy started off in doubles as they picked up a 6-2 win in the No. 3 spot. Kristina Kukaras and Maria Guirguis clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 in the No. 1 spot. The final doubles match was still played out, and Hagar Ramadan-Amin and Olivia Elliott won 6-4.

In singles, Emilia Namyslo picked up a win on Court 6 by default as Alcorn State's Aanya Rao was unable to compete. Elliott made her spring singles debut and picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win on Court 5 to get the Trojans within one point of the match victory. Kukaras clinched the fourth point with a 6-3, 6-1 win on Court 1.

The remaining three singles matches were played out, despite the overall match already being won by Troy.

Leslie continued her undefeated singles start with a 6-1, 6-2 victory on Court 4. Avdeeva won 6-4, 6-2 on Court 2 to extend the lead to 6-0. The final singles match of the day resulted in a 6-1, 6-3 win on Court 3.

Through four matches Troy is 20-4 in singles play and 8-3 in doubles action.
