TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team hosts a pair of late-week matches against Alabama A&M on Thursday and Alcorn State on Friday at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
The matches were originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday but were moved up due to weekend forecasts. The match on Thursday is slated for a 2 p.m. start and Friday's match will either start at 10 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.
Troy (2-0) is coming off a 5-2 win over Alabama State in its home opener last Saturday. Leena Metwally and Gabrielle Leslie are the only Trojans to open the season with singles wins in each of the first two matches. Metwally clinched the team victory against Alabama State last Saturday.
The Trojans are 8-4 in singles so far this season and 3-3 in doubles matches. All Troy doubles pairings are 1-1 on the season. The Trojans lost the doubles point in the first match of the season at Florida A&M but bounced back and grabbed the doubles point against Alabama State.
Alabama A&M is 0-2 on the season after dropping matches to Jacksonville State and Middle Tennessee to open its season. Alcorn State is also looking for its first win of the season, as it has dropped three matches to open its season.
