Trio of Trojans Land on CSC Academic All-District Team

TROY, Ala. – College Sports Communicators announced its Academic All-District Team on Tuesday, with three Trojans earning recognition.
Seniors Valeriia Avdeeva and Maria Guirguis, along with junior Alexia Zarate, were each named to the team.
Avdeeva carries a 3.70 GPA while majoring in global business management and administration. Playing on Court 2 in singles for all but two matches, the St. Petersburg, Russia, native posted a 12-3 record this spring. She also earned All-Sun Belt Doubles Second Team honors alongside Guirguis after the duo went 11-5 on Court 1.
Guirguis, a global business management and administration major from Alexandria, Egypt, holds a 3.66 GPA. She led Troy on Court 1 this season, compiling a 14-3 spring record while earning All-Sun Belt Singles First Team honors.
Zarate, a native of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, carries a 3.59 GPA as a general management major. In her first season at Troy, Zarate finished the spring with an 8-7 record, including a 7-5 mark on Court 4.
To be considered for the All-District Team, student-athletes must hold at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and compete in at least 75 percent of their team's contests.
