TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's soccer team heads to the sunshine state to take on North Florida on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT in Jacksonville, Fla., at Hodges Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live stats will be available on TroyTrojans.com.
Troy (5-2-0) is coming off a 1-0 defeat against Samford on Thursday night. The Trojans fought hard all night but surrendered the game-winning goal in the 85th minute. The Trojans went into Thursday's game on a four-game winning streak. Regardless of the loss, the Trojans are off to their best start since the 2015 season.
North Florida (1-3-2) is coming off a loss to No. 5 Florida State on Thursday.
Time to Bounce Back
Head coach Stuart Gore was pleased with his team's performance on Thursday, even with the loss. He preached the importance of turning the page and getting ready for its next contests.
Rubie Kelley continues to perform well in goal for the Trojans, allowing just one goal in her last five games.
Troy continues to force offensive pressure off corner kicks, where they rank No. 1 in the country overall (69) and first overall in corners per game (9.86).
One Last Tune-Up
North Florida is the last chance for the Trojans to refine their play prior to conference play. Troy opens its Sun Belt schedule on Sunday, Sept. 17, when they travel to Boone, N.C., to take on Appalachian State.
Troy looks to have more success in conference play this season than last year. In 2022, the Trojans did not qualify for the Sun Belt Conference tournament.
As of now, Troy is tied for second in the Sun Belt in wins with five.
Scouting the Ospreys
The Trojans are 1-1 all-time against North Florida, winning the most recent matchup 1-0 in 2014 in a neutral-site matchup in Mobile, Ala.
The Ospreys are led in scoring by Paige McSwigan who has one goal and three assists. Avery Raimondo and Lauren Weiss each have two goals.
