TROY, Ala. - Troy Soccer fell 1-0 in a defensive battle to South Alabama in Wednesday night's season finale at the Troy Soccer Complex.
The Jaguars (10-3-3, 6-3-3 SBC) struck early, scoring in the fifth minute when Zamiyah Hill found the back of the net off a feed from Melina Descary. Despite the quick deficit, Troy freshman Keely Cash had a career night, recording a season-best eight saves while facing 20 shots, including a penalty stop against Ava Matherne in the 83rd minute to keep the Trojans within striking distance.
Troy generated nine shots and five corner kicks, led by Megan Hamm, who tallied four shots and two shots on target. Troy's best opportunity came from Hamm in the 57th minute, but she was tripped up before she could fire a shot on the breakaway.
The Trojans finished their 2025 campaign with a 5-9-3 record while going 0-7-3 in Sun Belt Conference play, while South Alabama will enter next week's Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 1 seed.
Notables
"We were just a really young team. We played the team that'll finish second in the league in South AL. I think at one point we had seven freshmen on the field - I don't think they had many freshmen on the field at all. I've got to tip my hat to Keely Cash making the penalty save. She's also banged up. We've been without our two best players in Taylor [Richards] and Jiselle [Daniels] for 60% of the conference games. I think if you do that to any team in our conference - take away their two best players - they're a different team."
