Cross Country Season Kicks Off with JSU Foothills Invitational

TROY, Ala. –The 2023 cross country season kicks off on Friday, Sept. 1, in Choccolocco Park for the 17thAnnual JSU Foothills Invitational, hosted by Jacksonville State.
After a course preview at 2 p.m., the women's team embarks on its 4k journey at 5:45 p.m., followed by the men at 6:20 p.m. for the 5k. The men compete against 29 teams, while the women face 31, including multiple in-state foes like Alabama A&M, Auburn and UAB.

The Trojans remain in-state for their third straight appearance in the Foothills Invitational, having placed seventh and 10th for the women and men, respectively, in 2022.
Returning senior Cadi Rowe led the charge in 2022 with a 30th-place finish in the 4k run. The Lake Minneola High School graduate put together a time of 15:35.51 for her second-best placement.
Tyler Baker is the highest-placing returner on the men's side after coming across the stripe at 17:07.29 for 60th. Saindeley Dorsainvil followed him in 67th (17:21.17) and Michael Marvin in 80th (17:27.44).
Entering 2023, the Trojans look towards the youth with the addition of 12 freshmen – eight for the men and four for the women. Troy has 11 returners, with seniors Dylan Nelson, Baker and Rowe looking to end their Troy careers on a high note.
