TROY, Ala. – As the leading runners in the last three meets, Riley Treadaway and Winny Kosgei swept the Sun Belt Cross Country Runner of the Week awards, the league office announced Wednesday morning.
"I'm very proud of Winny and Riley for receiving these weekly awards," head coach Brian Cunningham said. "I view these awards as team accomplishments. Their teammates have pushed them and helped them grow into a position to receive this recognition. These two are wonderful representatives of their teams, both on and off the cross country course."
Treadaway boosted the Trojans to a fifth-place finish at the FSU XC Invite with a 16th-place finish in the 8K. The Dothan, Ala., native paced Troy with a 26:21.50, which marked the third-fastest 8K time by the team in 2026 – the time also sits 20th on Troy's all-time 8K list. In 2026, the third-year runner has led the men's team through all four meets, with silver medals at the Azalea City Classic and Montevallo Falcon Classic. Those second-place finishes helped the men go back-to-back as a team.
Kosgei ran her first-ever collegiate 6K at the FSU XC Invite, helping the Trojans finish seventh overall with her 33rd-place finish. She ran a 23:34.50, which ranked sixth in the Troy record book. After a 54th-place finish at the JSU Foothills Invitational, Kosgei has been the top runner on the women's side in the last three meets, boosting Troy to consecutive second-place finishes in the Azalea City Classic and Montevallo Falcon Classic. She's posted two top-five finishes, third and fourth, respectively.
The award marks Troy's first weekly award since Keith Warner and Alexiana Hinote swept the awards in 2024.
