Sklenska First Team; Five Trojans Get All-Sun Belt Outdoor Track & Field Nod

TROY, Ala.- Edita Sklenska leads the Troy track and field team with an All-Sun Belt first-team selection alongside four fellow Trojans amongst the second and third teams, the league office announced Wednesday.

Sklenska (800m – 1st) and Maja Kuessner (High Jump – 3rd) received honors on the women's side, while Javon Osbourne (shot put – 3rd, discus – 2nd), Cole Stewart (javelin – 2nd) and Alan Johnson (800m – 3rd) captured the nod for the men. Each selectee is placed based on their performances in last week's Sun Belt Championships.

The first team consisted of Sklenska for the Trojans after her dominating performance in the 800-meter run. At 2:07.48, the win marked her third gold in the event this season. Kuessner joined her on the women's side with the All-Sun Belt third-team selection. The sophomore hit a season-best 1.73-meter in the high jump event for third place – third podium finish of the season.

The men of Troy found their success in the throwing events with two silver medals and one bronze. Stewart secured a spot on the second team with his silver-medal performance for the javelin throw. The sophomore hit a personal record with Troy's first throw over the 67-meter mark at 67.36-meters. Osbourne took home a podium finish in both the shot put and discus events to make the second team. First, the freshman took home bronze in shot put at 17.35-meters. Then, he followed it up on Saturday, notching his eighth podium finish with a silver medal for hitting the 54.56-meter mark.Â

Johnson was the final Trojan named to the third team, joining Kuessner based on his 1:51.51 performance in the 800-meter run.
