Troy Opens Indoor Track and Field Season at Birmingham Indoor Icebreaker

TROY, Ala. – Troy opens its indoor track and field season Friday at the Birmingham Ice Breaker in Birmingham, Ala.
The Trojans are competing in the event for the fifth consecutive season after a strong showing last year.
Freshmen Haley Wilson and Aaliyah Murphy led the way in their collegiate debuts in 2023. Wilson won the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:15.50, while Murphy finished third in the women's 400 meters in 57.47.
Troy also earned a pair of top 10 finishes in the women's weight throw. Joy Edward placed seventh with a mark of 16.56 meters and Biniosa Ezukuse finished 10th at 16.04 meters. The Trojans snagged another top 10 finish in the women's triple jump, with Jordan Bailey finishing eighth at 11.56 meters.
This season, Troy will have 23 athletes competing across nine events, including the 200, 300, 400, 800 and 1,000 meters, along with the high jump, triple jump and the 4x400-meter relay.
