Women’s Golf Finishes Little Rock Golf Classic in Sixth

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. – The Troy University women's golf team did not move in the standings on day two at the Little Rock Golf Classic on Tuesday and finished the tournament tied for sixth out of 17 teams in Arkansas.
The Trojans played Alyssa Mercado as an individual for the tournament and she had the best score among all Trojans at the competition. Despite not counting towards the overall team score for Troy, Mercado finished the tournament tied for eighth among all competitors at the Little Rock Women's Golf Classic. On the final day of the tournament, Mercado netted five birdies to finish with a minus two overall score. The sophomore shot a 73 in both rounds one and two before finishing her tournament with a 70 on Tuesday.
The Trojans were led almost all tournament long by returning golfer Elisabeth Preus. She edged out Katelynn Altese for the tournament's top score among the Trojans. Her third round featured two birdies on the front nine before netting four more on the final nine holes to finish with a 222.
Altese was right behind her as she finished just two strokes shy of tying the team lead. After shooting a stellar 68 in round two yesterday, Altese would shoot a 77 and recorded just one birdie on her final day. She would finish the tournament tied for 23rd overall.
Laura Fangmeyer was steady through three rounds in Hot Springs Village. After shooting a 75 in round one and a 74 in round two, Fangmeyer recorded a 75 in her final action on Tuesday. The rookie saw four bogeys to just one birdie to finish tied with Altese with a 224 score.
ShaeLee Scarberry had her best round on the second day of the tournament. The senior finished the day with a 74 after shooting two over par in round three. Scarberry would shoot a 225 overall and finished tied for 28th in the tournament.
Bruna Roqueta registered 14 pars in her third and final round of golf Tuesday in Arkansas. She recorded a birdie on the first hole at Diamante Country Club but netted three double bogeys. Roqueta finished plus five on the day and tied for 45th overall.
