Trojans Tabbed No. 3 Seed at Sun Belt Conference Tournament

Troy will open pool play Tuesday against Arkansas State at 12:30 p.m.
TROY, Ala. – The Troy baseball team heads to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed in the East Division and are in Pool D alongside UTA and Arkansas State. The Trojans open the tournament Tuesday, May 25 at 12:30 p.m. against Arkansas State at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.
The Trojans will play their second pool play contest against UTA Friday at 3 p.m. The winner of Pool D will advance to the semifinals Saturday at noon and the tournament will conclude with the championship game Sunday, May 30 at 1 p.m.
The pool's highest seed will advance to the semifinals in the event of a 1-1 tie among the three teams in each pool.
Tickets are on sale now through the Biscuits ticket office (334.819.7483) and website. Single-game tickets may be purchased via phone or online, but all-session tournament booklets may only be purchased by calling the ticket office.
Troy posted a 27-24 record on the season and a 13-11 mark in league play. The Trojans made a strong run up the East Division standings after winning nine of their last 12 conference games.
Troy enters the tournament hitting .271 as a squad, the third-best average in the conference. Two Trojans, Drew Frederic (66) and Logan Cerny (61), rank inside the top five among league players in hits.
True freshman Garrett Gainous has led the charge on the mound with a Sun Belt-best nine wins this season. Marquez Oates has emerged as one of the best closers in the league with eight saves, tied for the second-most in the conference.
