Â
With the series win, Troy (21-6) has won the opening two conference series of the season for the first time since 2009.
Â
The Trojans hopped on the board in the opening frame when Jade Sinness scored from third on an error by the Panthers' second baseman.
Â
Georgia State answered in bottom half of the first scoring two runs off a Sophie Mooney single to take its first and only lead of the contest.
Â
Troy's offense picked up significant momentum in the top of the second scoring six runs off six hits and an error.
Â
Freshman Ashlan Ard blasted the second long ball of her career, a three-run shot over the right-field fence, to kick start the scoring rally.
Â
After a ground out put two outs on the board for the Trojans, Jade Sinness opened up a two-out rally singling to right-center. Katie Lively then followed smashing her third home run of the series, a two-out two-run bomb to center.
Â
Veteran Katie Webb calmly stepped into the batter's box and continued the two-out rally with a double down the left-field line. Kelly Horne capped off the six-run frame with a double to left field that scored Webb.
Â
After the Panthers stranded their lone baserunner in the second, back-to-back doubles by Anslee Finch and Candela Figueroa plated another run for the good guys.
Â
A fielder's choice and an infield single by Logan Calhoun scored another pair for the Trojans to close out the top of the third.
Â
Georgia State's Daisy Hess answered in the bottom of the third frame with a two-run home run to cut Troy's advantage to six.
Â
A scoreless fourth frame sent the matchup into the fifth where Troy scored one run off a sacrifice fly hit by Horne.
Â
The Panthers continued cutting into the Trojans' lead, plating a pair of runs off singles by Bailee Richardson and Mooney in the bottom of the fifth.
Â
After entering in the bottom of the third, Kynsley Rae Blasingame (4-0) blanked Georgia State in the final two innings to earn her fourth victory of the season.
Â
Macy Banks (2-2) suffered the loss for the Panthers allowing nine runs off nine hits.
Â
QUOTABLE – HEAD COACH BETH MULLINS
"Really proud of the Grit and Fight we showed today. Our offense, once again, continued to work pitch to pitch and put up a lot of quality at bats. We are excited to get back out on Championship Sunday and fight some more."
