TROY, Ala. – Troy finished its fall season on Oct. 28 with a win over Gulf Coast. This was Troy's eighth game in five weeks, including six at the Troy Softball Complex.
"We were pleased with the way our team competed throughout the fall season," said head coach Eric Newell.
Home Field Dominance
Over the six home games, the Trojans scored double-digit runs four times. Kiley Huffman led the offense with 11 hits and RBIs, including four hits and five RBIs in the final game. Mid Tidmore also recorded four hits against Gulf Coast, bringing her to 10 for the season. Outfielders Mariah Harrison and McKinnon Howard added 15 combined hits at a .555 average.
While the outfield supplied the hits, the infield provided the power as Bre Hughes, Makaley Boswell and Kam Munson combined for five home runs. Hughes hit two bombs against her former school, Northwest Florida.
Pitching Prowess
2026 All-Sun Belt honorees Ella Cunningham and Abby Lovell return for the Trojans to head the pitching staff, giving Troy two bona fide aces. Cunningham continued her dominance, pitching 17 innings at home, allowing only one run and punching out 27 hitters. Lovell allowed only four hits, with opposing batters hitting .143 in her work.
Cunningham also crushed two home runs in crucial moments against Florida State and Central Alabama. Mya Holt saw extensive innings in the circle in the fall, as the former two-way player looks to focus on her pitching.
Facing the Best
Troy took two road trips this fall to face two of the biggest brands in college sports, Georgia and Florida State. The Trojans returned with confidence after competing in these high-quality road tests.
"We challenged ourselves against some highly touted DI programs, including two very likely top-25 teams in the University of Georgia and Florida State," Newell said. "That said, those experiences provided valuable opportunities for growth and development. I am proud of the way our team competed and battled throughout the fall. We've built a solid foundation this fall and are excited about the potential of this group and what lies ahead as we turn our focus toward the spring season."
Troy has built a consistent program and is looking to add a seventh consecutive 30-win season.
