Troy Treks to Georgia State

TROY, Ala. – The Troy Softball team treks to Georgia State for a three-game conference series at Robert E. Heck Softball Complex. The Friday, Saturday, Sunday series is set for 4 p.m., 12 p.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
The Trojans (19-6) are off to one of the hottest starts in program history. Troy's 19-6 record marks the best 25-game start to the season since 2009.
Last weekend, the Trojans took all three games from UT Arlington, marking the first time since 2005 that Troy has swept the opening weekend of conference play.
Troy's powerful offense is led by veteran Katie Webb. The senior is batting a .385 clip with seven doubles, a home run and 17 RBIs. Webb and sophomore Jade Sinness lead the Sun Belt in hits (30) while Webb also ranks fifth in Troy's career hits record (224).
Leanna Johnson (10-3) resides at the helm of the Trojans' pitching staff. The sophomore has recorded a 1.44 ERA over 82.2 innings of work and her 144 strikeouts rank second nationally.
PROWLING ON THE PANTHERS:
Georgia State (12-8) enters its first conference weekend after having its series against Texas State postponed due to inclement weather. Bailee Richardson leads the way offensively for the Panthers batting at a .397 with three doubles, four home runs and 21 RBIs.
Emily Buck and Sophie Mooney split the majority of time in the circle. The two combine for a 7-4 record with 45 strikeouts over 66.1 innings of work.
