TROY, Ala. – As the Troy softball program enters head coach Eric Newell's fifth season, it is proud to reveal its 2027 schedule, highlighted by four 2026 NCAA Tournament teams and four nonconference tournaments.
"We put together a schedule that will challenge us and prepare us for the demands of the season," Newell said. "We will have opportunities to compete not only against a large number of Power 4 programs, but we will also have a large number of games against NCAA regional qualifiers from a year ago. Our goal is to continue elevating our standard, compete for championships and position ourselves to play playoff softball deep into the season. We are excited about the challenges that the schedule presents and the opportunity this schedule provides our team to be playing high-level softball at the end of the spring."
Troy opens the 2027 season on the road with a pair of nonconference tournaments at Nicholls (Feb. 12-14) and Houston (Feb. 19-20), with road trips to McNeese (Feb. 16) and Sam Houston (Feb. 17) in between. The Houston / Houston Christian Invitational sees Troy play Northwestern State and Houston on Feb. 19 and Houston Christian and New Mexico State on Feb. 20.
Following its opening stretch of road games, Troy hosts the Troy Invitational, scheduled for Feb. 26-28 at the Troy Softball Complex. Troy's home swing continues with dates against Kennesaw State (March 2) and Alabama State (March 3).
The fourth and final tournament puts Troy back on the road as it heads to Mississippi State for a three-day tournament on March 5-7. The Bulldogs punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the College World Series as the No. 5 seed before falling to No. 3 Texas Tech and the eventual national champion, No. 1 Texas.
The Trojans return home for a midweek game against Southern Indiana on March 10 before their first three-game series against Stetson, beginning March 12 and ending March 14.
A pair of midweek games open Troy's tough five-game road trip with game two of 2027 at Kennesaw State on March 16, before heading to Columbia, S.C., to face its second 2026 NCAA Tournament foe in South Carolina on March 17.
The test doesn't get easier as the Trojans open Sun Belt Conference play against Marshall, the No. 2 seed in the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Tournament, who earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament at the Durham Regional, from March 19-21.
Troy brings SBC softball to the Troy Softball Complex from March 25-27 when it welcomes Coastal Carolina, opening a seven-game homestand. The team pauses conference play on March 31, looking to take down Auburn for the second straight year in Troy's friendly confines.
The homestand ends April 2-4, when the Trojans look to avenge their first-round exit from the SBC Tournament against Louisiana.
SBC's newest member, Louisiana Tech, hosts the Trojans at Dr. Billy Bundrick Field April 9-11, before the Trojans host in-state rival and defending SBC Tournament champions South Alabama April 16-18.
Over the next seven games, the Trojans hit the road, starting with a trip to Southern Miss from April 23-25. Then, the Trojans go to ULM from April 30-May 2, before concluding their road schedule at West Georgia on May 4.
App State concludes Troy's regular season at the Troy Softball Complex from May 6-8. Four days later, the Trojans begin their title run in Harrisonburg, Va. (James Madison), at the 2027 SBC Tournament.
