Women's Tennis Opens Season With Win at Alabama State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The wait to start the 2021 season was well worth it for the Troy women's tennis team. After three postponements due to weather to start the season Troy finally got back onto the courts, earning a 5-2 victory at Alabama State on Sunday.
The Trojans got the match started by winning the all-important doubles point. Anastasiia Khoklova and Andrea Widing teamed up to take the first match of the season followed by the pair of Matea Mihaljevic and Shevita Aulana who clinched the doubles point for the Trojans.
In singles action Troy continued their strong play with a straight sets victory from Khoklova on court two followed by another straight sets win on court three by Michelle Ncube. After giving up a point on court one the Trojans clinched the match on court five with a straight sets win by Anastasiia Khrustaleva. The Trojans picked up their fifth point of the afternoon with a victory on court four by Kristina Kukaras who made her Trojan debut on Sunday.
