Women's Tennis falls at Alabama on Wednesday

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Troy women's tennis fell for the first time this season when they traveled to Tuscaloosa. In a match that was added to the schedule late, the Crimson Tide defeated the Trojans, 0-7. It was the first meeting between the two Alabama schools since 2002.
Troy fell behind the Tide early after Alabama captured the doubles point with 6-2 decisions on courts two and three. The pair of Andrea Widing and Kristina Kukaras were battling as they trailed by just one when their match was stopped after the clinching point was won.
In singles play, Troy switched up its line up on courts five and six as Widing and Anastasiia Khrustaleva each made their 2021 singles debut. The Trojans hung with Alabama at the start of the match before the Tide began to use their momentum to swing the match in their favor. After earning wins on courts four and three, the match was finally clinched on court two to give Alabama the win and drop Troy to 1-1 on the young season.
Troy will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Mobile to open Sun Belt conference play against South Alabama. Thursday match vs South is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
