Men’s Golf Wraps Fall with Fourth-Place Finish at Battle at Black Creek

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Will McFadden turned in his third top 10 finish of the year, and Troy posted its best team score since the spring of 2019, as the Trojans tied for fourth at the Battle at Black Creek, which wrapped play Tuesday at the Black Creek Club.

The Trojans shot 1-under as a team over the three rounds, and McFadden and Brantley Scott both shot in the red individually, the third time this season that the pair has been under par at a tournament. McFadden finished in a tie for ninth overall at 3-under and Scott tied for 11^th at 1-under.

Scott fired Troy's best round of the day and the tournament with a 3-under 69 thanks to four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 14^th. The true freshman from Dothan, Ala., has now played six of his 15 rounds under par, with four landing in the 60s.

McFadden opened with back-to-back rounds of 2-under before closing with a 1-over 73 on Tuesday. He has played eight of his 15 rounds this season under par and has had all 15 of his individual rounds count towards the team card.

UT Martin and Chattanooga tied for the team title at 7-under, while App State edged Troy by one shot for the third spot and Western Carolina tied the Trojans at 1-under.

Jake Springer carded a pair of birdies and shot 74 on the day to finish in a tie for 44^th place, George Burch was 6-over on the day and tied for 47^th and Nicklas Borrmann rebounded from a triple on the opening hole to shoot 3-over and tie for 57^th overall.

The Trojans are done for the fall, and the first run with head coach Forrest Schultz was a successful one as Troy is over .500 on the year following a 21-79 record last year.
