Troy Men’s Golf Wins Argent Financial Classic; Lowery Ties Program Record

CHOUDRANT, La. – The Troy men's golf team fired an 11-under in Tuesday's final round of the Argent Financial Classic, climbing two spots to claim its first team title since the spring of 2025. First-year Jack Lowery carded an 8-under 64 to pace the Trojans in the final round, tying the lowest round in program history relative to par.
Lowery carded eight birdies and no bogeys in just the sixth round of his collegiate career. The Homewood, Ala., native is 11-under par through his first two college tournaments. Brantley Scott shot a 62 (par 70) at the 2025 Seminole Intercollegiate and Brent Hamm carded a 64 at the 2020 Bash at the Boro, both matching Lowery's 8-under.
"This win all started with last year's team," head coach Clay Bounds said. "We were young and inexperienced but knew that the talent and game was there. With everyone returning and the addition of Jack Lowery, we now have the team to do things like this. I couldn't be more proud of the way these guys have gotten better and better. We're excited for the rest of the year."
Troy entered the day four shots back of North Texas and a shot behind Louisiana Tech, but the Trojans shot their second-best team round relative to par in program history, vaulting into the top spot on the leaderboard.
Lowery finished in a tie for third place at 6-over for the tournament, while Pablo Gracia tied for seventh at 5-under after carding five birdies on the day in a round of 70. Thomas Crane added a 1-under 71, joining Gracia as the only players under-par in all three rounds of the event.
Lee Poppell tied for ninth at 4-under for the tournament, shooting even on Tuesday with a pair of birdies, one shot ahead of Crane, who finished 11th at 3-under. Lawton Emblom tied for 55th at 10-over after a 73 in the final round.
Lowery was 8-under on the par-4 holes, four shots better than anyone else in the field, including Gracia, who tied for second at 4-under. Gracia and Lowery had 14 birdies over the three rounds, tied for sixth-best, while Troy's 61 birdies were the second-most. The Trojans had just 43 bogeys and six double-bogeys in the event, the fewest and second-fewest in the field.
Troy returns to action next week at the West Bay Collegiate, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast at the West Bay Club in Estero, Fla.
