Youth on Display for Troy at GSU Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. – Troy's youthful lineup was on display on Monday's opening day of the GSU Invitational at the Berkeley Hills Country Club. Freshman Brantley Scott is tied for fifth place after 36 holes, while sophomore George Burch fired a 5-under 67 in the second round to pace the Trojans, who are in 11th place in the 15-team field.
Scott is 3-under through the first two rounds thanks to a 3-under 69 to open his day in which he carded four birdies. He followed his third under-par round of the year by sinking three more birdies en route to shooting even-par in the afternoon session.
Burch is a shot back in a tie for 12th place at 2-under, following his 5-under in the second round, which featured five birdies and no bogeys. He opened the day with a 3-over 75 thanks to an eagle on the par-5 third. The rounds were the first of the season for Burch.
Lafayette holds a 1-shot lead over Wright State while Oakland, Tennessee Tech and Georgia State round out the top five.
Will McFadden is tied for 54th place at 7-over following rounds of 77 and 74, and Jake Springer is tied for 68th place at 9-over with rounds of 81 and 72. Nicklas Borrmann had to withdraw from the tournament in the first round due to injury forcing the Trojans to play with only four players.
Troy will play Tuesday's final round alongside Western Kentucky and Davidson, beginning at 8:30 a.m. (CT) from the 10thtee box.
