Troy Set to Open 2021 Indoor Season at Blazer Invite

TROY, Ala. – The Troy track & field indoor squad is set to open its 2021 campaign at the Blazer Invitational, hosted by UAB, Friday in Birmingham. Action at the Birmingham CrossPlex will get under way at 10 a.m.

Troy is coming off its best indoor season in school history, a year that saw the Trojans finish second at the Sun Belt Championships and score a program-record 89 total points.

Several key Trojans will make the trip north to Birmingham Friday, including 2020 All-Sun Belt team members Tanner Guest and Macki Walsh. Guest, along with Edita Sklenska, were part of the gold medal winning DMR at the Sun Belt Championships last February.

Troy will look to take another step up in 2021 and will look to its newcomers to aid in that process. Gracie Booher, the cross country Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, joins the indoor squad to aid in the distance efforts. Newcomer Maja Kuessner will look to make an impact this season on the field side in the high jump.

Participating teams at the invitational include UAB, South Alabama, FAU, Alcorn State, Georgia State, Mississippi University for Women, Tennessee Wesleyan, Marshall, Alabama State, Belhaven and Jackson State.
