Notes: Women's Basketball Hosts ULM Wednesday Night

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball will close out its four-game homestand Wednesday night when they host ULM. Tip-off against the Warhawks is scheduled for 6 p.m. with a $1 ticket promotion being offered for the game.

The Trojans continue to impress this season after defeating in-state rival South Alabama 85-68 last Saturday inside Trojan Arena. The 22nd ranked team in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll is off to its best start in program history with nine games remaining, three at home. They enter a tough stretch of games that starts Wednesday against ULM before back-to-back road trips to Louisiana on Saturday followed by a Thursday Saturday swing at Coastal Carolina and App State. Troy owns a one-game lead over Coastal Carolina and Little Rock as the regular season continues to inch towards its conclusion.

After scoring a game-high 17 points on Saturday, freshman point guard Gara Beth Self has now tallied seven consecutive double-figure scoring games. Junior guard/forward Whitney Goins notched her second consecutive double-figure scoring game on Saturday, scoring 14 points, with 11 coming in the first half. Goins knocked down four-of-nine 3-pointers on Saturday, marking her fourth performance with at least three treys this season. Goins poured in a career-high 19 points with five treys against Troy on Jan. 8. ULM is 1-11 in road games this season. In road games they are averaging 53.0 points per game while allowing 69.3. ULM lost to Arkansas State last Saturday 53-54. ULM led Arkansas State by 10 with just over 8 minutes left in the third.
