In the first and fourth quarters, Troy dominated with a 45 and 58.3 field goal percentage to outscore Tuskegee 48-20. Shakirah Edwards ended the night with seven points, four rebounds, five blocks, two assists, and two steals, while newcomers Hannah Smith (15), Aniya Hubbard (12), Tiauna King (10), and Maliyah Meeks (10) finished in double figures for scoring.
For the 11th straight season, the Trojans were selected to finish in the top three for the Sun Belt Preseason Coaches' Poll. Troy's met those expectations consistently with a top-three finish in eight of the last 11 seasons. Hubbard leads the revamped Trojans after a preseason All-Sun Belt Second Team nod. She's sat out the last two seasons after averaging 15.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals in a two-year stint at Florida Atlantic.
