Notes: Women's Basketball Travels to No. 12 Mississippi State Monday

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball will hit the pavement for an early week showdown against No. 12/12 Mississippi State in Starkville. The Trojans and Bulldogs will square off inside Humphrey Coliseum at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Troy has been nearly unbeatable in the month of the December. The Trojans have won 11 straight in the month and 13 of their last 14 in December. Their last loss in the month was Dec. 4, 2018 against Middle Tennessee.

Once again Troy finds itself ranked in the top 10 nationally in scoring offense, averaging 94.0 ppg so far this season. This is nothing new for the Trojans as it marks the six consecutive season that Troy has been ranked inside the top 10 for points scored per game. Troy is also ranked second nationally in rebounds per game (53.8) after leading the country last season with a rebounding average of 55.0 boards per contest.

CLEANING UP THE GLASS
Alexus Dye has made a name for herself as one of the best rebounders in the country. She currently ranks 41st nationally in rebounds per game at 10.8. She ended last season also ranked 41st, averaging 9.6 rebounds.
Side Bar Stat: Dye has recorded three double-doubles in four games which is the sixth most double-doubles in the country.

TOP SCORERS
Tiyah Johnson (19.8 ppg) and Alexus Dye (18.5 ppg) currently rank fourth and sixth in the Sun Belt in points per game average. They are the only pair of teammates in the League to rank in the top 6 and both point per game averages are team bests since 2017-18 season when Amber Rivers averaged 13.9 ppg.

Senior Emely Rosario and freshman Sharonica Hartsfield rank third and fourth in the Sun Belt in assists per game. Rosario is currently averaging 5.0 assists per contest while Hartsfield is averaging 4.8.

Troy and Chattanooga played each other in back-to-back season with both meetings resulting in 20+ point Trojan victories. What was even more similar was that each game produced an identical 24-2 run that allowed Troy to blow the game open and put it out of reach.
