STATESBORO, Ga. – Brent Hamm fired a school record 8-under par in Tuesday's final round of the Bash in the Boro to pace the Troy men's golf team. Hamm carded seven birdies and an eagle during his record round and finished in a tie for sixth place overall.
Hamm opened his round on the back nine and made the turn at 1-under par with birdies on No. 11 and No. 18. Following the turn, Hamm birdied four straight holes – to make it five straight overall – and then ended his round with a birdie on the par-4 eighth and an eagle on the par-5 ninth.
Hamm's 64 matches teammate Will McFadden and Connor Futrell for the fewest strokes in an event by a Troy golfer; however, those two rounds both came on a par-71 course and were rounds of 7-under par. Hamm has now played four of his seven rounds under par this season, including 2-of-3 rounds in this event.
Ryan Morrison picked up his first top 20 finish of the year as he tied for 13th place at even par for the week following a final round 4-over. George Burch tied for 34th place overall after shooting 6-over on Tuesday, while Will McFadden tied for 40th place at 14-over for the week.
Nicklas Borrmann was a shot back of McFadden in 43rd place and Reagan Harrell bounced back from a rough Monday that saw him miss the first round due to injury to shoot even par with three birdies in the final round.
Host-Georgia Southern won the team title by 13 shots over Augusta while App State, Francis Marion and Wofford rounded out the top five in the seven-team field.
The tournament wrapped up Troy's brief fall campaign.
