TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's and women's cross country teams travel to Gainesville, Fla., to run in the Mountain Dew Invite at the University of Florida Golf Course Saturday morning. The men's 8k race begins at 7:55 a.m. with the women's 5K to follow at 8:30 a.m.
Â
"We are really looking forward to this weekend's race because it will begin to show us who we can rely on later in the season" head coach Elliot Blount said. "The goal is for our men to pack up and get to our points throughout the race together. Our women have a great opportunity against some formidable teams to see where we stack up. The plan for the race is to run free!"
Â
After a second-place finish at the Azalea City Classic, the men will use a similar lineup on the trek this weekend. Blount returns seven of eight of the runners that raced in the previous two meets including senior Bradley Dixon who has led the men in both races with a ninth and fifth place finish respectively.
Â
On the women's side, Blount will also send a familiar seven runner lineup. Freshman Cadi Rowe returns after a second-place finish in the Struts Season Opener while Michaela Ashley returns after leading the women last week with an eighth-place finish in the Azalea City Classic.
Â
The Trojans will look to race strong in Saturday's 37-team field that includes regional rivals like FAMU, Florida, Jacksonville and UCF.
