TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's cross country team brought home a fourth-place finish while the men finished 12th in the Mountain Dew Invite on Saturday morning at the University of Florida Golf Course.
The women tallied 183 total points to bring home a fourth-place finish in the 35-team field. Freshman Cadi Rowe led Troy in her second race as a Trojan with a 24th-place finish in 18:57.72 while Macki Walsh landed in the top 30 with a 29th-place finish in 19:07.00, her second best 5K time.
"Our women were able to run well considering their training and the bigger competition," head coach Elliot Blount said. "I'm very pleased with the group working to close the spread which is something necessary for success at the conference championships."
For the men, Bradley Dixon paced the Trojans in the 8K with a 43rd-place finish in 27:08.11. A pair of freshmen rounded out the top three Trojan finishers with James Brake and Silas Franklin finishing 55th and 72nd, respectively.
"We still have not quite committed to racing," Blount said. "When you don't engage in competition, you can suffer on the men's side. We will figure it out and make adjustments over these next two weekends off from racing."
Next Time Out
The Trojans take two weeks off before heading to Oxford, Ala., for the JSU Foothills Invitational on Saturday, October 5.
