SAN MARCOS, Texas – Haleigh Davis sent a one-out solo shot over the wall to power Texas State past Troy, 2-0, in the series-clinching finale Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium.

Both teams remained scoreless until Haleigh Davis homered over the left field wall in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Texas State (27-21, 15-8 Sun Belt) the lead once and for all.

The Bobcats solidified the win scoring another run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Hailey McKay hit a two-out single down the left field line that scored Mari Cranek who got on base with a single to left field.

Leanna Johnson (25-6) suffered the loss for the Trojans (35-18, 17-8) giving up five hits, a walk and hitting two batters.

Krista Jacobs earned the start for the Bobcats, but Meagan King (17-11) earned the win giving up just one hits and striking out two batters over 4.1 innings of work.

Next Up
The Trojans head back home looking to bounce back when they take on South Alabama Friday at 6 p.m.
