GERMANTOWN, Tennessee – Bianca Lohbauer and Nicole Lorup led Troy to a fourth-place finish at the Memphis Intercollegiate which wrapped play Tuesday at the Ridgeway Country Club. Four Trojans finished among the top 25 individually as Troy turned in its third best score of the season.
"It was nice to bounce back," head coach Randy Keck said. "I think we were a little bit tired after traveling to Mexico last time out. The conditions were really bad and we struggled. I was disappointed in our opening round on Monday, but the bounce back in the second round was beyond fantastic. The finish fourth in that field is a good finish. We're playing well at the right time, so that is exciting."
Lohbauer fired a 2-under 69 in the final round for her third round under par of the season which propelled her into 10thplace overall for her third top-10 finish of the year. The Trojan senior carded four birdies on the day with just a pair of bogeys – she finished with eight birdies for the week and led the field with a cumulative 4-under on the par 5 holes.
Lorup, who shot a 5-under 66 in the second round, finished a shot back of Lohbauer in 11thplace. She tied for fourth in the field with 11 birdies over the three rounds including two on Tuesday.
"We know how good those two are, and when they give us the numbers they are capable of, we are a really good team," Keck said. "When they are playing well, it lets the others relax a little instead of trying to press and do too much."
Penn State held off Middle Tennessee and Memphis to win the team title while Troy bested Sun Belt foes Arkansas State and Little Rock plus rivals UAB and Southern Miss.
Sarah Harrison notched her fourth top-25 finish of the year while Judith Castro picked up her second as the pair tied for 25thplace at 13-over par. Harrison shot 4-over in Tuesday's final round with one birdie and Castro carded a 6-over with a pair of birdies. Anna Claire Little rounded out the field for the Trojans in 69thplace at 28-over.
The Trojans now own a third and fourth place finish in two of their three events this spring heading into their final tune up before the Sun Belt Championship. Troy travels to the Brickyard Collegiate on April 8-9 in Macon, Ga.
