Lorup Flirts with History to Lead Troy at Memphis Intercollegiate

GERMANTOWN, Tennessee – Troy freshman Nicole Lorup fired the third-lowest round in school history with a 5-under 66 in Monday's second round of the Memphis Intercollegiate at the Ridgeway Country Club. The Trojans jumped seven spots up the leaderboard following the opening round to move into fourth place overall in the 14-team field.
Lorup carded seven birdies and two bogeys in her second round after shooting 7-over in the opening round. Lorup now has a team-leading four rounds under par this year and is on pace for a top three scoring average in school history.
After a bogey on her opening hole, Lorup raced out to 4-under with five birdies and seven pars on her next 12 holes. Following her second bogey, Lorup closed the round with two more birdies and two pars.
Troy shot a 1-over 285 on the par 71 course in the second round which ranks as the fifth-best round in school history. Two of the top three individual rounds in Troy history have come this spring, while two of the top five team rounds have come in the spring season.
Bianca Lohbauer and Judith Castro are tied for 20thplace at 7-over par following two rounds of play. Lohbauer carded a pair of birdies in each of her Monday rounds to shoot 7-over and even par, while Castro had four total birdies with rounds of 3-over and 4-over.
Sarah Harrison finished the day at 9-over and tied for 32ndplace and Anna Claire Little sits tied for 67thplace at 19-over.
Penn State holds a 5-shot lead over Middle Tennessee heading into Tuesday's final round with Memphis sitting 12 shots back of Penn State in third.
Troy will play alongside Marshall and Toldeo for Tuesday's shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. on holes four thru seven; the Trojans have a 1-shot lead over Toledo and 7-shots over Marshall.
