Troy's Bats Too Hot for Coastal Carolina

Leanna Johnson's (13-5) shutout performance matched the booming offense to down the Chanticleers (23-7, 4-3 Sun Belt). Johnson sat down eight batters, scattered seven hits and only gave up one walk.
The action started in the top of the third inning where Troy (19-13, 3-4) plated four runs with hits by Kaylee Chapman and Katie Webb. The scoring was capped off by a two-run home run to left center by Madeline Porter.
In the top of the third, Troy added four more runs with the first scoring off of a sacrifice fly by Kelly Horne. Troy rallied with two outs to plate three runs with hits by Talia Truitt and Porter.
Coastal Carolina tried to keep the game within reach with a two-run home run by Courtney Dean in the bottom of the third and a solo shot by Abbey Montoya in the bottom of the sixth, but the Chanticleers were not able to make a comeback.
Kaitlin Beasley-Polko suffered the loss for Coastal Carolina after allowing eight hits, two walks, and hit three batters.
Troy is back in action at 2 p.m. tomorrow afternoon in the series-clinching game at Charles Wade- John Lott Field.
